Ten resolutions for the new year

As one year comes to a close and a new one is born, we tend to reflect on the year ahead and resolve to do some things differently. For many of us, this means making the same promises to ourselves that we’re probably not going to keep (at least not for very long) like losing weight, stop smoking, or exercise more.

These are all worthy goals but we should also consider our spiritual life. I challenge you to consider what you could do differently to become more like Christ in the new year.

Here are some ideas to consider:

  1. Spend quiet time meditating on God’s word.
  2. Spend more time in prayer each day.
  3. Read through the entire bible (both old and new testaments).
  4. Memorize a new bible verse every week.
  5. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with someone every week.
  6. Do random acts of kindness.
  7. Attend church every week and then discuss what you learned with a friend or loved one.
  8. Volunteer in your church or another ministry.
  9. Invite a friend or neighbor to church.
  10. Resolve to shine Christ’s light in the world by living Galatians 5:22-23.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

May God bless you in the new year as you grow closer to His Son, Jesus Christ.

Your brother in Christ,
Daniel
